FALL BALL FAQ
When does the 2024 Fall season start & end?
Expect practices to begin the last week or August or first week of September.
The first games are the weekend after Labor Day
The final games are typically the weekend prior to Thanksgiving.
Exact days will be published once
District 52
creates the schedule.
What is the goal of Fall Ball?
Fall Ball in RWCLL is a developmental season with the intent to prepare the Players, Coaches, Umpires AND Parents for the division of baseball the player will register for NEXT spring. Fall Ball is not intended to be a continuation of the Spring 2024 season, but rather a prep for Spring 2025.
Due to some ages, players may be playing in the same division as the previous Spring, but in general the idea is for kids transitioning to Kid Pitch, or larger fields, get a preview in the Fall, prior to next Spring's season.
What Division should I sign my player up for?
Take a look at RWCLL age / division matrix here.
Be sure to use your players 2025 age.
When are games?
For Tee Ball, (A) & (AA) Ball all games will be on Sunday mornings.
For (AAA), Majors, Juniors and Seniors most games will be Sundays, but there are occasional Saturday games the District schedules.
Where are the games?
For Tee Ball and (A) Ball, games will be in Redwood City. Most likely Henry Ford and Roy Cloud schools.
For (AA), (AAA), Majors, Juniors and Seniors we play across
District 52
(the governing body of our local Little League cities), so expect half your games will be in Redwood City, and the other half will be visiting a city such as Foster City, Belmont Redwood Shores, Pacifica, San Mateo, etc..
When is practice?
For Tee Ball and (A) Ball there is one weekday practice (the day is chosen by the Manager), and are typically 60 minutes long. Practices typically begin around 5pm.
For (AA), (AAA), Majors, Juniors and Seniors there will be 1-2 weekday practices, on days chosen by the Manager. Practices may range from 60-90 minutes, depending on the age group. Practices may begin between 5pm-8pm depending on the age group.
Can I request a specific Coach or Friend?
For Tee Ball and (A) Ball, buddy requests are considered, but not guaranteed.
For (AA) and higher, there are no buddy requests.
Can I request a specific practice day?
No. If you end up having a conflict, its possible you may be able to swap teams with another family, but the Manager has ultimate say on the practice day, so consider Managing a team to eliminate this possibility.
What is the expectations of a Manager, Coach, Assistant Coach or Team Parent?
Take a look at our Volunteer Signup Page for more details
What if my child has conflicting soccer/basketball/lacrosse/swimming/tutoring/piano/etc. with some practices or games?
RWCLL realizes Baseball may not be the highest priority during the Fall Season. Talk with your Manager regarding conflicts. Fall rosters are typically larger that Spring rosters, with the idea that not every player will make every event. During the Spring season, the expectation is Baseball is the priority if you choose to register your player.
What equipment does RWCLL provide for Fall Ball?
All players will receive a Jersey, Hat, Belt and Socks.
Pants ARE NOT provided during the Fall, but you can reuse last season's pants or purchase new ones.
Team equipment such as balls & catchers gear are provided.
For all Divisions we encourage players to have their own helmets, but this is not a requirement.
For Tee Ball and (A) Ball, the field equipment boxes will have team bats & helmets available for use, if the player does not have one.
For the older divisions, the expectation is the player has their own helmet & bat.
If any player is experiencing an equipment hardship, please reach out to the
Fall Ball Coordinator
and RWCLL will make sure each player has the equipment they need for a fun Fall Ball experience.
